Blackjack

The game is played with six to eight decks of playing cards.

Players place their bets before any cards are dealt. The initial deal consists of two cards dealt to each player and one to the Dealer. All cards are dealt face up. The object of the game is to beat the Dealer’s total by drawing cards that equal 21, or as close to 21 as possible, without exceeding it (busting). If you tie with the Dealer, it is a stand off and you neither win nor lose.

Jack, Queen and King count as 10. Aces count as either 1 or 11. Other cards have their face value.

If you receive an Ace and a 10 count card in the initial deal, you have Blackjack and you will be paid 3 to 2, unless the Dealer has Blackjack as well.

Note: Up to three people may bet on any one playing box at a time, subject to the rules. So even if the table looks busy you are also welcome to participate. If in doubt ask the Supervisor.

Doubling Down

You may double down your initial bet on any two card total that does not include an Ace. When doubling down the additional wager must be at least the table increment and no more than the original wager. You will then be dealt only one more card.

Splitting

When you are dealt a pair on the initial deal, you have the ability to split the hand into two separate hands, and play them independently. If you select this option you must place a matching bet beside the original bet. Each hand will be completed in order and if an additional pair is dealt you may split one more time. When splitting aces, you may split only once, with each ace receiving one card only.

Original Bet

If you have chosen the option to split or double down your hand and the Dealer draws Blackjack, you will only lose your original wager. All other additional wagers will be returned to you.

Insurance

If the Dealer’s first card is an ace, you may make a separate bet on the insurance line. The insurance bet cannot exceed half of the original bet. If the dealer gets Blackjack insurance will pay

2 to 1, otherwise the bet is forfeited. If you have Blackjack when the Dealer’s first card is an ace, you may ask for even money immediately and take no further part in the hand.

Perfect Pairs

On selected tables there is an optional bet called Perfect Pairs. The Perfect Pairs wager must be at least the minimum amount and not more than the maximum amount. You must be playing on the table to play Perfect Pairs. The payouts are as follows:

1. A mixed pair – a pair with two different coloured cards - 5 to 1
2. A coloured pair – a pair of the same colour but different suits - 10 to 1
3. A perfect pair – a pair of the same suit - 30 to 1

Hand Signals

While playing you are required to physically indicate your decisions. If you require another card, simply tap the table with your index finger. If you want to stand, and don’t require more cards, signal by moving your hand in a horizontal cut-off motion above the table

Blackjack bets may only be made with chips, not cash. Chips may only be purchased from the gaming tables. Their value is clearly marked and when you leave, redeem them for cash at the Cashier’s desk.
