Marketing firm wins prestigious award

Challenge Marketing is an award winner — again.

For the third time actually.

Last week, the Dunedin marketing company, which specialises in promotional products and apparel merchandise, gained the Open Category award at the 2022 New Zealand Australasian Promotional Products Association Awards for its work on Dunedin’s casino rebranding last year.

In 2017, it won the industry award’s New Zealand Made category for a project with the Otago Polytechnic.

It also won the same award a year later.

Last year, the casino changed its name from Dunedin Casino to Grand Casino and was refurbished for the first time since it opened 22 years ago. The rebrand was completed by Dunedin marketing company Firebrand.

As part of that rebranding, Challenge Marketing designed and created the casino’s new staff uniforms as well as branded merchandise, such as pull-up banners, glasses, pens and name badges.

It also designed gifts for events, such as poker competitions.

Challenge Marketing owner Adrian Hocking said it was "very exciting" to win the "prestigious" award.

The company spent about two months on the project and the complexity was "quite big" especially fitting more than 100 staff into new uniforms.

"You had shapes and sizes ... it was trousers, suit jackets, waistcoats, ties so we had to try and put all that together and find options that would be practical and reflected their new image.

"It was a great project to work on," he said.
